The collaboration is based on the graphic art of Louis Guzman-Woldrich and Jarett Boskovich. Starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, the exhibit will be on display and local bands will play at the opening. Boskovich, a former photographer for San Diego Uptown News, said he draws inspiration from his travels and living abroad in Italy, France and South Korea. Guzman-Woldrich, a former art director for San Diego Uptown News, said his inspiration comes from his home of San Francisco and a longtime friend. <\/p>\n<p>CASH MOB HITS SOUTH PARK<\/p>\n<p>A Cash Mob is a movement that brings dozens of residents to a mystery business. On Dec. 6, a Cash Mob hit Make Good in South Park. Each with $20 in hand, participants met on the corner of Juniper and 30th streets where the mystery location was unveiled, and participants flooded the store. Announcing the meeting place on Facebook and Twitter, participants only know the small business they will be mobbing moments before they go. The purpose is to bring attention to these local and independent businesses. For more information, visit facebook.com\/cmsandiego.<\/p>\n<p>DILLER TEEN TIKKUN OLAM AWARDS SEEKING NOMINATIONS<\/p>\n<p>Now in its sixth year, the Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards provide one of the most prestigious and rewarding opportunities for Jewish teenagers in California. Recognizing a wide range of community service and social action projects, the awards are given annually to up to five young volunteers who demonstrate leadership and commitment to making the world a better place. Recipients each receive an award of $36,000 to be used as they wish. Organizers of A Christmas Tabernacle hope to keep the true meaning and spirit of Christmas alive in San Diego. A Christmas Tabernacle is a family-friendly event offering continuous entertainment, food, over 100 vendors selling unique gifts for Christmas, a living nativity scene, a Christmas tree forest with uniquely themed and decorated trees, a kids\u2019 fun zone, Santa, reindeer and camels, a sledding snow hill and more. Volunteer opportunities are described on the event website: achristmastabernacle.com.<\/p>\n<p>FIVE NEW KIOSKS AVAILABLE IN BALBOA PARK<\/p>\n<p>Friends of Balboa Park and Kiosk Arts finished the installation of five information kiosks in Balboa Park. Two of the newest kiosks are located at the corner of Pan American Plaza just below the International Cottages and at the Inspiration Point Tram Stop. The new kiosks feature touch screen technology and provide information on museum exhibits, performances, park tours and special events, as well as map locations for all the park\u2019s features including restaurants, restrooms, museums, gardens and attractions. Each Kiosk offers FREE WiFi, an ATM and park map.<\/p>\n<p>WHALEY HOUSE HOSTS \u201cA CHRISTMAS CAROL\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Join SOHO and the Whaley House Museum staff for a performance of Charles Dickens\u2019 holiday ghost story, A Christmas Carol, set in the historic and haunted Whaley House. Although not a traditional tour of the Whaley House, A Christmas Carol is sure to bring holiday fun for the whole family.<br \/>\nThe show will run Dec. 13 \u2013 14 every half hour from 7 \u2013 9 p.m. Space is limited but tickets are still available and advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended. Tickets are $8 and available online at brownpapertickets.com\/event\/214098 or at the Whaley House Museum Shop, at 2476 San Diego Ave.<\/p>\n<p>LAS POSADAS PROCESSION RETURNS TO OLD TOWN<\/p>\n<p>Dec. 11 will mark the 61st annual Las Posadas event in Old Town\u2019s San Diego State Historic Park. The Las Posadas procession is a walking reenactment of the biblical story of Mary and Joseph\u2019s search for a birthplace for the Christ child. Everyone is invited to join the candlelit procession and sing traditional holiday songs in both Spanish and English as the players go from inn to inn, asking for symbolic lodging. The procession culminates with a live nativity scene in front of Casa de Estudillo as well as a pi\u00f1ata party. A variety of local music and performing arts groups will perform from 1 &#8211; 5 p.m. This event will also feature a daytime celebration and preshow with live music, performances and activities for children from 2 &#8211; 5 p.m. The procession that takes place at 5 p.m. Admission to Las Posadas is free. For more information, call (619) 297-3100.<\/p>\n<p>NORTH PARK UPS STORE OFFERING 25 PERCENT OFF SHIPPING WITH DONATION<\/p>\n<p>The North Park UPS Store, located at 3245 University Ave., is helping the homeless this season while giving discounted shipping and packaging to customers. Customers who bring in cold weather accessories, like scarves, socks and gloves, get a discounted rate on holiday packaging materials as well as 25 percent off air shipping. The storeowners will then join Girls Think Tank, a local nonprofit that works directly with San Diego\u2019s homeless people, to distribute the wares, along with other seasonal appropriate items.
