San Diego County lost power just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday, and while power restoration came in waves through the night, it was fully restored by Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Initially determining that 1.4 million people were without power, it was later estimated that over 2 million people had no electricity.<\/p>\n<p>Early reports indicate the outage was triggered after a 500-kilovolt (kV) high-voltage line from Arizona to California tripped out of service. Other reports suggest the outage occurred from human error by a maintenance worker in Yuma, Ariz.<\/p>\n<p>The FBI reported they had ruled out terrorist activity early on.<\/p>\n<p>The perimeter of the outage spans from Yuma, Ariz., below the Mexico border to Tijuana and Mexicali, through San Diego and as far north as Orange County.<\/p>\n<p>SDG&#038;E is asking customer to conserve their electricity by monitoring their use of home air conditioners.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the power outages\u2019 impact on the Uptown communities, pick up the Sept. 16 issue of San Diego Uptown News.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ashley Mackin | SDUN Editor San Diego Gas &#038; Electric confirms that at 3:25 a.m. Friday, nearly all of the households and businesses that went without power due to the blackout Thursday had their electricity restored.
