\u201cI try to capture a moment in time from nature,\u201d she said. \u201cNature has forever been of interest to me, and it\u2019s something I\u2019d like to give to the viewer. My goal is to give the feeling of being there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her paintings feature scenes of everything from the waterfront cliffs in La Jolla to the pink skies of Sunset Cliffs and the desert mountains at Indian Head. Beal\u2019s passion for nature is at the heart of her work.<\/p>\n

(Courtesy Maria Platis)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\u201c[My inspiration] has a lot to do with the sheer pleasure of being outdoors and wanting to bring that pleasure to the viewer,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The Southern California native is bringing that \u201cpleasure\u201d to Uptown viewers \u2013 her artwork is on display at Caf\u00e9 Bassam in Bankers Hill. Beal and three other artists (Marileigh Schulte, Patricia McGeeney and Toni Williams) will be showcased at Caf\u00e9 Bassam\u2019s Heart for Art benefit on Sunday, June 27.<\/p>\n

\u201cCaf\u00e9 Bassam looks great with all 33 paintings hanging in the window,\u201d said Maria Platis, marketing director for the benefit. \u201cEight of those paintings are Joli\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

All four women are local artists who often see each other as they work on various plein air projects across the county.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve all enjoyed each other\u2019s company,\u201d Beal said.<\/p>\n

Platis hopes the benefit will provide a means for people to give back to the community while also enjoying a night away from it all.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople are looking to help and also looking to relax, sit back and enjoy themselves too because there is so much going on right now,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The Heart for Art benefit is a fundraiser for the Children\u2019s Heart Institute Fund.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot more cardiac kids out there than people realize,\u201d she said. \u201cThe group does tremendous things for the kids locally.\u201d<\/p>\n

For a $5 raffle ticket, art lovers get a chance to win one of the original paintings, valued anywhere from $500 to $1500. All proceeds go straight to the Fund.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe evening is about great art, great wine, great food and a great cause,\u201d Platis said. <\/p>\n

The event\u2019s location is part of that fun.<\/p>\n

\u201cCaf\u00e9 Bassam is very eclectic,\u201d Platis said. \u201cLast time I was there, there was a guy reading a library book, a guy on his laptop, two young girls looking for love, and a guy playing the piano.\u201d <\/p>\n

Beal is also a fan of the venue. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe restaurant is charming, the food is delicious, everything is as wonderful as it could be,\u201d Beal said. \u201cI hope people enjoy themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n
