The collaborative event features <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">a dozen <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">neighborhood restaurants <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">and more than <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">100 visual and performing artists.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Sponsored by the University Heights Community Development Corp., <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">el <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">event will kick off at <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Trolley<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Barn<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Park<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> sobre <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Adams Avenue<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> en <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Florida Street.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The UHCDC <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">organizing committee <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">chooses <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">a theme <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">each year <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">for artist<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">s<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> to use in their work. Previous themes have drawn on historic icons, such as the cobblestones that dot the neighborhood and the ostrich egg<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">, which recalls the community\u2019s past as home to an ostrich farm<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">. This year\u2019s <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">theme <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">is the culinary arts, a natural pairing with the Taste of University Heights event.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Combining the two events was a great way to get more people involved, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">dicho<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Ernie Bonn, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">UHCDC <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">treasurer.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cWith this economy it\u2019s a way to stimulate people to try out some of the new restaurants in the neighborhood,\u201d said <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Bonn<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">. \u201cAnd, it\u2019s interesting, too, because you get to go into the artist studios. It really gives you an overview of the community and how nice it is.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Abel Woldemichael, owner of Muzita Abyssinian Restaurant, made the suggestion to include the Taste event this year.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cWhy not put the two together? People who are interested in art are interested in food,\u201d he said. \u201cThey complement each other.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">With<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> so many new restaurants on <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Park Boulevard<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> that have opened, it\u2019s the perfect time.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">El <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">event <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">es <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">designed to appeal to all the senses throughout the day. Sample some of the delicious dishes offered by the community\u2019s diverse eateries and take a free, self-guided tour of the arts. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Participating restaurants include Mama\u2019s Bakery and Lebanese Deli, Muzita Abyssinian Bistro, Soltan Banoo, Monica\u2019s At the Park, El Zarape Mexican Restaurant, Pizza Gourmet Express, Twiggs, Gulf Coast Grill, Loving Hut, Bahia Mexican and Seafood Restaurant, Eclipse Chocolat, Pizzeria Luigi and Cream Coffee Bar.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">There are more than 20 open artist studios and v<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">enues hosting art displays, music and theatrical performances<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">, including<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Trolley Barn Park, which will be the site of <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">more than 40 visual artists displaying their paintings,<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> sculptures, jewelry, glass art, mixed-media work <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial';\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">and photography, as well as community-group exhibitors and children\u2019s activities.
