As the new decade fast approaches, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.littleitalysd.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Little Italy Association<\/a> takes time to reflect on 2019\u2019s greatest achievements and looks ahead at what is to come in the new year and beyond.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This year, the neighborhood expanded with an abundance of new businesses and a new residential space. With all the impressive changes, the emphasis of community has remained the same with the return of several staple community events and holiday festivities that everyone knows and loves.<\/p>\n<p>Setting fire to the San Diego brunch scene, Little Italy welcomed an immersive breakfast dining experience with the opening of <a href=\"https:\/\/morningglorybreakfast.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Morning Glory<\/a> in April. Other new restaurants entering the area were <a href=\"https:\/\/lezinque.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zinque<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.littleitalysd.com\/go\/farmers-table\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Farmer\u2019s Table<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/parakeetcafe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Parakeet Caf\u00e9<\/a> and the globally popular burger joint, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.littleitalysd.com\/go\/shake-shack\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shake Shack<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, <a href=\"https:\/\/curiocollection3.hilton.com\/en\/hotels\/california\/carte-hotel-san-diego-downtown-curio-collection-by-hilton-SANCRQQ\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cart\u00e9 Hotel<\/a> opened its doors in September, offering an upscale hotel experience with luxurious amenities that is just steps away from all the excitement of Little Italy\u2019s shops and restaurants. Locals and visitors alike are able to enjoy sea-to-table dining and a rooftop with exceptional views of the bay and city. The gorgeous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.littleitalysd.com\/go\/luma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Luma Apartments<\/a>, a 24-story high rise, also came to completion and began leasing, meeting San Diegans\u2019 demand for new residential living in the center of the city.<\/p>\n<p>Within the community, residents and visitors celebrated a year of highly-anticipated annual events like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.littleitalysd.com\/events\/taste-of-little-italy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sabor de la peque\u00f1a Italia<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.littleitalysd.com\/events\/labor-day-stickball-tournament\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Labor Day Stickball Tournament<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.littleitalysd.com\/events\/state-of-the-neighborhood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">State of the Neighborhood<\/a> y <a href=\"https:\/\/www.littleitalysd.com\/events\/trick-or-treat-on-india-street\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trick-or-Treat on India Street<\/a>. San Diegans said \u201cargh\u201d one final time at the last pirate-themed Ferragosto event that offered guests a festive old seaside experience and raised over $230,000 to support Our Lady of Rosary Church, Washington Elementary School and our very own Little Italy Association. <a href=\"https:\/\/artwalksandiego.org\/missionfederal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paseo del arte de Mission Federal<\/a> celebrated its 35th annual arts festival showcasing over 300 local and international artists as well as providing an array of live entertainment. All of the 2019 events saw some of the largest crowds to date.<\/p>\n<p>Looking forward to 2020, residents can expect new businesses like the expansion of the <a href=\"https:\/\/littleitalyfoodhall.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sal\u00f3n de comidas Little Italy<\/a> to enter the neighborhood. Developers Holland Partner Group and Bridge Housing Group plan to develop a new 30-story residential tower with 295 market rate residential units and an 8-story building with 63 apartments for seniors on Kettner Boulevard between Beech and Cedar Streets. Not to mention Little Italy\u2019s tallest tower to break ground at India &amp; W.
