{"id":241421,"date":"2019-10-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-10-04T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/food-drink-blotter-for-october\/"},"modified":"2019-10-04T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-10-04T07:00:00","slug":"food-drink-blotter-for-october","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/food-drink-blotter-for-october\/","title":{"rendered":"Blotter de alimentos y bebidas para octubre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Por Frank Sabatini Jr.<\/p>\n<p>The most talked-about restaurant to open Downtown in a while is <strong>Animae<\/strong>, a $5.5 million architectural wonder combining sexy Art Deco elements and heavy draperies with an abstract interpretation of an ancient cedar forest on Japan\u2019s Yakushima island.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Launched by the Puffer Malarkey Collective (<strong>Herb &amp; Wood, Herb &amp; Eatery,<\/strong> y <strong>Farmer &amp; the Seahorse<\/strong>), the pan-Asian menu begins with various crudos and extends to black garlic udon noodles with lobster; butter dumplings with escargot and beef carpaccio, roasted duck with pineapple; wagyu porterhouse steak with miso butter, and more.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18778 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sandiegodowntownnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Animae-interior3-by-Dustin-Bailey.jpg\" alt=\"Food &amp;amp; Drink Blotter for October\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The dishes were conceived by San Diego restaurateur Brian Malarkey, and Joe Magnanelli, who previously served as executive chef for the <strong>Grupo Cocina Urbana<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Located on the ground floor of the new Pacific Gate luxury condominium complex, Animae\u2019s full bar spotlights single malts and gins, as well as sake and Japanese whiskey.<\/p>\n<p>The restaurant opens for dinner at 5:30 p.m., daily. The Downtown spot will reportedly be a step above the smaller drive-through operations. It will offer indoor seating, take-out foods and a tap system for iced teas and cold brews. <em>605 C St., <a href=\"http:\/\/dunkindonuts.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dunkindonuts.com<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>A Los Angeles-based French cafe and wine bar has nudged into Little Italy within a new mixed-use structure on Kettner Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18780 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sandiegodowntownnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Zinque-food-from-Haley-Hill-Photograph.jpg\" alt=\"Food &amp;amp; Drink Blotter for October\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 3,000-square-foot <strong>Zinque<\/strong> greets with a chic design featuring wrought iron, wooden tables, a fireplace and central bar. It was founded in 2012 by restaurateur Emmanuel Dossetti, who currently has three locations in the LA area.<\/p>\n<p>The bill of fare centers on French classics for breakfast, lunch and dinner such as house-made croissants, sandwiches using bread imported from Paris, various tartines, ratatouille, steak frites, and more. <em>2101 Kettner Blvd., 619-915-6172, <a href=\"http:\/\/lezinque.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lezinque.com<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Bobboi Natural Gelato<\/strong> has set its sights on Little Italy for launching its third and largest San Diego location.
