With winter in full swing and the holidays around the corner, we look forward to celebrating the spirit of the season, especially in the \u201cJewel of San Diego.\u201d Friends of Balboa Park, a nonprofit that champions the legacy and beauty of the park, is stewarding a number of exclusive opportunities for the community to celebrate and enhance Balboa Park throughout the holidays:<\/span><\/p>\n

Holiday Poinsettia Display<\/strong><\/p>\n

Friends sponsors the seasonal floral displays in Balboa Park\u2019s iconic Botanical Building, made possible by donor dedications. <\/span><\/p>\n

The poinsettias will be on display from December 7 to mid-January. Be sure to stop by and celebrate one of the region\u2019s most festive seasonal displays!<\/span><\/p>\n

Benefits of Being a Friend<\/strong><\/p>\n

Friends approaches our 20<\/span>el<\/span> anniversary and is celebrating by launching a formal membership program that rewards supporters and encourages even more people to join our park improvement projects and youth and education programs throughout Balboa Park. Honeymoon Bridge Fundraiser <\/strong><\/p>\n

Friends of Balboa Park is re-creating the Park\u2019s iconic Honeymoon Bridge over Palm Canyon, <\/span>that in the 1930s would ‘guarantee couples eternal love’ if they walked across. The bridge<\/span> is being resurrected by the Friends, who are hosting a kick-off fundraiser on Sunday, January 13, in Balboa Park. The event will feature hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and entertainment. Space is limited, and tickets will be available at <\/span>www.FriendsofBalboaPark.org<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Balboa Park Carousel<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2017, Friends acquired the historic Balboa Park Carousel and launched a multi-year $3 million fundraising capital campaign to restore and complete the purchase. The campaign has surpassed the $1.3 million mark, thanks to the community\u2019s generosity. We still have a ways to go to reach our next milestone, and need your support. Please consider a tax-deductible donation today, and help preserve one of the park\u2019s most beloved icons!<\/span><\/p>\n
