{"id":238709,"date":"2016-10-07T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-10-07T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/hop-heads-unite\/"},"modified":"2016-10-07T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-10-07T07:00:00","slug":"hop-heads-unite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/hop-heads-unite\/","title":{"rendered":"Hop-heads se unen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Por Kai Oliver-Kurtin<\/p>\n<p>The eighth annual San Diego Beer Week (SDBW) is on tap Nov. 4\u201313, bringing together nearly 20,000 people for 10 days filled with more than 500 individual beer-centric events.<\/p>\n<p>Produced by the San Diego Brewers Guild (SDBG), SDBW 2016 will include events from the guild\u2019s 51 new members who have joined in the last year.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe best part of SDBW is that every year is different and unique,\u201d said Jill Davidson, SDBG president. \u201cEvery year our brewery and allied members continue to raise the bar and bring new, innovative and engaging events to the loyal San Diego beer community \u2014 as well as all the excited beer enthusiasts who make the pilgrimage to experience what we have to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10822\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10822\" style=\"width: 601px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sandiegodowntownnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/GuildFest.11.7.15-lrg-9351.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10822 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sandiegodowntownnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/GuildFest.11.7.15-lrg-9351-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"guildfest-11-7-15-lrg-9351\" width=\"601\" height=\"401\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 601px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 601\/401;\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10822\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">51 new members have joined the San Diego Brewers Guild in 2016, adding to Beer Week. (Courtesy Arlene Ibarra)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>SDBW events include tap takeovers, exclusive releases, beer dinners with limited-edition brews, beer bike rides and runs, and anniversary parties, among others. The opening and closing events are sponsored by the guild and are consistently the week\u2019s largest events.<\/p>\n<p>For opening night on Nov. 4, Guild Fest begins with the VIP Brewer Takeover on Broadway Pier. Guests can expect to sip on the finest rare and specialty beers from 70 local breweries, including some made especially for the intimate event. Tickets include unlimited beer and food samples.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to see what our new brewery members bring to Guild Fest,\u201d Davidson said. \u201cThe energy of the event \u2014 especially the VIP session \u2014 is pure magic and I cannot wait to see our new members experience it for the first time as brewers. It\u2019s a truly powerful moment to realize that we\u2019re all part of something great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Nov. 5, Guild Fest continues with another unlimited beer tasting event at Broadway Pier. Attendees will receive a commemorative tasting glass and can enjoy live music and food for purchase. Joining the 70 breweries will be representatives from SDSU\u2019s Business of Craft Beer program and UC San Diego\u2019s Brewery Certificate program, to provide educational sessions during the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe San Diego brewing industry generated $851 million in sales in 2015 and employed 4,512 workers,\u201d Davidson said. \u201cThe economic impact is large, and SDBW is a heavy contributor to those statistics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Davidson \u2014 who works at Pizza Port Brewing Company as a sales and brand ambassador \u2014 is the guild\u2019s first female president. For SDBW, she said the Ocean Beach Pizza Port location will have a full 40-beer tap takeover, a rare and barrel-aged beer night, and an event featuring dozens of sour beers that\u2019s historically the restaurant\u2019s busiest night of the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe San Diego community is very aware of its 128 local breweries these days,\u201d Davidson said. \u201cSan Diego itself has become a brand known all over the world for its high-quality beer and collaborative spirit. The guild\u2019s goal is to maintain that reputation. We provide the support and resources that our members need to grow responsibly, sustainably \u2014 and most importantly \u2014 collectively.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sandiegodowntownnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/GuildFest.11.7.15-lrg-9277.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-10821 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sandiegodowntownnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/GuildFest.11.7.15-lrg-9277-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"guildfest-11-7-15-lrg-9277\" width=\"601\" height=\"401\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 601px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 601\/401;\" \/><\/a>The beer-filled week concludes with The Beer Garden tasting event at The Lodge at Torrey Pines on Nov. 13.
