These ride-sharing services should be accountable for what they\u2019re doing and held to the same standards taxis are. In my opinion, this is not right and totally unfair.<\/p>\n
I also want everyone to see this link on \u00dcber\u2019s disclaimer, available at uber.com\/legal\/usa\/terms<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n Once the customer downloads the app, they would rather just scroll down to the bottom of page and click on \u201cI AGREE\u201d than read and know about the disclaimer. Uber is basically saying they don\u2019t provide transportation (but yes they do), and they don\u2019t control the third party (the driver) to whom they give the calls to via the Internet or iPhone. They say they are not liable or responsible for anything that they do for providing this service. It is already charged to the customer\u2019s credit card and in turn Uber sends the driver a direct deposit into their bank account.<\/p>\n Long story short, below is a portion of their disclaimer.<\/p>\n [Editor\u2019s Note: This online document is presented to customers in all capital letters but for readability\u2019s sake, we have changed that format here.]<\/p>\n \u201cYou acknowledge that Uber does not provide transportation or logistics services or function as a transportation carrier. Their customers can\u2019t even complain about them, because all they know is that they got into a black Prius.<\/p>\n If they had called a taxi instead, the cab company\u2019s name and cab number is on both the front driver\u2019s and passenger\u2019s side door, and our sheriff\u2019s I.D. card is on display inside the cab, in view of the passenger.<\/p>\n The public and our communities need to know the truth.<\/p>\n I also did a Yahoo search of American cities that have banned \u00dcber.
