But that all changed once Angela decided to give in and try it. (Courtesy Painting &amp; Vino)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>If you haven\u2019t heard, these <b>Pintura y Vino<\/b> classes are the latest craze across the nation and San Diego is no exception.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Painting and Vino instructors have really mastered breaking each painting down step-by-step so that you truly do not need any experience or skill to master what you are being taught,\u201d said Jill Mesaros, owner of <b>98 Botellas<\/b> at 2400 Kettner Blvd. in <b>Peque\u00f1a Italia<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>This fun neighborhood bar has been offering the Painting and Vino classes since spring of 2012 and since then, the event has exploded in popularity. \u201cIt&#8217;s extremely well received,\u201d Mesaros added.\u00a0\u201cPeople love it and many return again and again.\u201d While some people may feel intimidated at first, the instructors are good at getting students to relax and unwind.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want this to be a positive, feel good experience so we take it slow,\u201d said Caitlin Henry, the creative services director at Painting and Vino. \u201cThe classes are designed so that anyone can do it.\u201d Henry said the San Diego-based company has been offering the classes around San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles for about a year and a half.<\/p>\n<p>Henry, who is also an artist, pointed out that the classes can be therapeutic, especially after a long, stressful day. \u201cBeing able to create something and experience it with perhaps a group of friends while sipping wine is a wonderful way to de-stress after a tough day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So who typically is attracted to these events?\u00a0 \u201cWe see it all from couples to girlfriend and family outings. It\u2019s extremely social. The popular wine bar teamed up with Painting and Vino back in March of 2012 and offers the classes several times a month. The classes are always a hit, Totah said, and they fill up fast. As a matter of fact, she\u2019s taken part in the class three times and loved every minute of it. \u201cI\u2019ve painted flower fields, night skies, waves, even attempted a Picasa,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>As for Angela Manning, she can\u2019t get enough. \u201cI\u2019ll never be Van Gogh but I\u2019m having fun and that\u2019s all that matters,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s the spirit!<\/p>\n<p>For more information on Painting and Vino, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paintingandvino.com\">pinturayvino.com<\/a> and pick San Diego for a complete list of local venues and class schedules. The classes run $45 per person and include all art supplies.
