June marks the beginning of San Diego\u2019s al fresco fine arts, and it also brings in the annual Mainly Mozart Festival and a touring Broadway classic.<\/p>\n

10el<\/sup> Avenue Theatre <\/strong><\/p>\n

Mo`olelo Performing Arts Theatre presents Katori Hall\u2019s \u201cHoodoo Love,\u201d a play with blues music called \u201can aching folktale in the tradition of Zora Neale Hurston.\u201d Set during the Great Depression, it concerns a woman who uses hoodoo magic to capture a rambling blues man. Embarcadero Marina Park <\/strong><\/p>\n

San Diego Symphony kicks off the Summer Pops season with \u201cStar Spangled Pops,\u201d conducted by Marvin Hamlisch and featuring guest vocalists and the San Diego Master Chorale in a program of patriotic and pop favorites. Defy gravity when Broadway San Diego presents the Broadway tour of Stephen Schwartz\u2019s award-winning hit musical \u201cWicked,\u201d which tells the \u201creal\u201d behind-the-scenes story of what happened in Oz and asks who is truly wicked in this fairy tale, the green-faced girl or the Judy Garland type. The Old Globe<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gear up for the Old Globe Shakespeare Festival 2012, comprising Shakespeare\u2019s Machiavellian tragedy \u201cRichard III,\u201d his pastoral comedy \u201cAs You Like It,\u201d and Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee\u2019s timely courtroom drama, \u201cInherit the Wind,\u201d in which a teacher is accused of the crime of teaching evolution.
