{"id":234937,"date":"2018-10-19T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-10-19T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/pure-water-moves-forward-construction-beginning-soon-2\/"},"modified":"2018-10-19T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-10-19T07:00:00","slug":"pure-water-moves-forward-construction-beginning-soon-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/pure-water-moves-forward-construction-beginning-soon-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Pure Water moves forward, construction beginning soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Scott\u00a0Sherman | District 7 Dispatch<\/p>\n<p>San Diego\u2019s goal to provide one-third of its own water by 2035 took a major step recently when the City Council approved a low interest loan that will finance nearly half of the first phase of the Pure Water program.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The $614 million loan comes from the EPA\u2019s Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) and will cover 49 percent of the $1.25 billion project.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/missionvalleynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/pure-water.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6986 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/missionvalleynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/pure-water.jpg\" alt=\"Pure Water moves forward, construction beginning soon\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The WIFIA program was created to accelerate investment in the nation\u2019s water infrastructure by providing long-term, low-cost supplemental loans for regionally and nationally significant projects.<\/p>\n<p>The Pure Water program will offer a cost-effective investment for San Diego\u2019s water needs and will provide a reliable, sustainable water supply.<\/p>\n<p>Pure Water will eventually recycle up to 83 million gallons of water daily once the project is completely finished.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase of Pure Water is scheduled to begin construction in 2019 and open in 2021.
