CalPhonics is a San Diego-based, nine-piece band featuring horns and multiple vocalists, that plays everything from big-band sounds to songs from the \u201980s, \u201990s and today.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4339\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4339\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/missionvalleynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/CalPhonics-2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4339 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/missionvalleynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/CalPhonics-2.png\" alt=\"Summer concert series announces lineup\" width=\"600\" height=\"454\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 600px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 600\/454;\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4339\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">CalPhonics opens the summer concert series at Civita Park June 25. <em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.calphonics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">calphonics.com<\/a>)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The public is encouraged to bring picnics, beach chairs and blankets to the park, which is located near of Civita Boulevard and Russell Park Way in Mission Valley. All concerts run from 5:30 to 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>On July 23, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elektricvoodoo.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Elektric Voodoo<\/a> takes the stage. The band blends rootsy, soulful rock-and-roll with elements of psychedelia, Afrobeat and Latin music.<\/p>\n<p>The local dance band <a href=\"http:\/\/www.popvinylband.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pop Vinyl<\/a> will perform Aug. 20. The group\u2019s playlist spans five decades of upbeat, dance club hits \u2014 everything from \u201cAretha to Beyonce, from Michael to Justin, Donna Summer to Madonna, Prince to Maroon 5 and the Bee Gees to Black-Eyed Peas,\u201d according to the group\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sirenscrush.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Siren\u2019s Crush<\/a>, a local seven-piece Top 40 dance band that plays covers by a wide variety of performers, ranging from Katy Perry to Earth, Wind &amp; Fire, will make its third annual appearance at Sundown Sunday on Sept. 17.<\/p>\n<p>For updates, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/CivitaLife\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CivitaLife<\/a> Facebook page.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By SDCNN Staff Summer concerts at Civita will be back this month \u2014 and this year will be held in the new amphitheater in Civita Park.
