Palmer<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Event features culinary treats, craft breweries, food drive<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4036\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4036\" style=\"width: 605px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/missionvalleynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/web-MAIN-TOM-5-Selden-Photography.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4036 size-full lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/missionvalleynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/web-MAIN-TOM-5-Selden-Photography.jpg\" alt=\"Taste of Morena turns 10\" width=\"605\" height=\"349\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 605px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 605\/349;\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4036\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The annual Taste of Morena brings people from all over San Diego to the up-and-coming Morena District. <em>(Photo by Selden Photography)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The 10th Annual Taste of Morena will take place on April 26 and as with Tastes of the past, this year\u2019s event will feature an array of savory food samples, drink specials and delectable sweets from several local eateries.<\/p>\n<p>For just $25, attendees will be able to partake in a culinary adventure that spans 23 restaurants, breweries and bars including Bay Park Coffee, Pita Pit, Andres Restaurant, Baci Ristorante, Bay Park Fish Company, Siesel&#8217;s Old Fashioned Meats, Bull\u2019s Smokin\u2019 BBQ, Dan Diegos, JV\u2019s Mexican Food, La Gran Terraza, Luce Bar &amp; Kitchen, Tio Leo&#8217;s, Offshore Tavern &amp; Grill, Sardina\u2019s Italian Restaurant &amp; Bar, zPizza, Fiji Yogurt, Home Brew Mart by Ballast Point, The Clutch Bar, Side Car Bar, and Poseidon Project.<\/p>\n<p>New participants include the cafe and bar at San Diego Tennis and Racquet Club, Pho Kitchen and tastes from Waters Fine Foods, which will be featured at Morena Storage.<\/p>\n<p>Siesel&#8217;s Old Fashioned Meats deli manager Robert Cabanas and Ballast Point Brewing Company Home Brew Mart general manager Jim Johnson said that being part of the Taste of Morena is something they enjoy doing for the community.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4053\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4053\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/missionvalleynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/TOM-4-Selden-Photography.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4053 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/missionvalleynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/TOM-4-Selden-Photography.jpg\" alt=\"Taste of Morena turns 10\" width=\"600\" height=\"760\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 600px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 600\/760;\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4053\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Restaurants like Off shore Tavern and Grill will offer up tasty bites from their menus. <em>(Photo by Selden Photography, courtesy of Morena Business Association)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re part of the Bay Park community and if people don\u2019t know about us, they can come out and try some of the stuff we make here. It\u2019s all in good fun,\u201d Cabanas said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe participate because we are part of the local business community here, and have been for 25 years,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cThe Morena district has seen fantastic growth in the diversity and quality offered by its local businesses, and the \u2018Taste\u2019 is a great chance to showcase that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Taste of Morena event coordinator Barbara Oulette agrees, adding that it\u2019s a great way for attendees to see what the area has to offer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a pretty hip area and it\u2019s becoming very popular. It\u2019s fun and people love having a good time with their friends while being able to discover what\u2019s here,\u201d Oulette said.<\/p>\n<p>She also encourages would-be attendees to get their ticket early, as Taste of Morena usually sells out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe sell about 600 tickets and we limit ticketing otherwise it makes it really hard for the restaurants if too many people show up,\u201d Oulette said. \u201cWe encourage everyone to come out because many people don\u2019t realize all the restaurants we have in the area. There is a lot of variety that spans from barbeque to pho. The Poseidon Project has a tasting showroom and the San Diego Tennis and Racquet Club has a caf\u00e9 and bar, which most people don\u2019t realize is open to the public. The area has Mexican food, Italian food and seafood. Anyone who drops off non-perishable food items, diapers or baby formula at the donation bins at Morena Storage will be entered to win four tickets to the San Diego Blues Festival in September.<\/p>\n<p>Food drive participants will be provided with raffle tickets, Oulette said, adding that the winner will be announced within a week.<\/p>\n<p>The Taste of Morena will take place on Wednesday, April 26, 5\u20139 p.m. The event will be held in the Morena District along Morena Boulevard, W. Morena Boulevard, Linda Vista Road and the surrounding side streets.<\/p>\n<p>Complimentary Old Town Trolley shuttles will take guests to the participating restaurants and a special tram from University of San Diego will be on hand to shuttle guests to La Gran Terraza on the USD campus.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are available for $25 and can be purchased with cash or credit at Jerome\u2019s Furniture and Morena Storage. Cash tickets are available for purchase at Max Folkers RE\/MAX Pacific. Online ticketing is not available. Tickets are expected to sell out.
