METRO<\/span>ore than a year after the San Diego City Council approved new medical marijuana regulations, neither Mission Valley nor its surrounding neighborhoods have any city-permitted medical marijuana dispensaries.<\/p>\n

That may change soon. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Mission Valley Planning Group in early April voted to recommend that the city approve permits for a medical marijuana consumer cooperative at 3703 Camino Del Rio South. Known as The Healing Center, the cooperative would occupy 400 square feet in a 26,000-square-foot, two-story medical office building. <\/span><\/p>\n

With the planning group\u2019s recommendation in hand, the application will be forwarded for a decision by a city hearing officer. A date for the hearing has not yet been set. The hearing officer\u2019s decision may be appealed to the Planning Commission.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Healing Center is one of three separate applications that have been filed for medical marijuana cooperatives in Mission Valley. The other two are at 3455 Camino Del Rio South and 2815 Camino Del Rio South, but neither of those have yet emerged from an internal city review. <\/span><\/p>\n

An additional five applications have been filed in the Grantville area. City rules allow up to four\u00a0dispensary permits in City Council District 7, which includes Mission Valley and Grantville.<\/span><\/p>\n
