A health and fitness village highlight organizations promoting physical and mental wellbeing. There will also be live music, a beer garden, a kids\u2019 zone and much more. Participation fees are $45 for adults, $20 for children (ages 12 and under) and $10 for dogs. Registration starts at 7 a.m., the run starts at 8:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 9:15 a.m. The walk\/run will start and end at the festival site in NTC Park (2455 Cushing Road, Liberty Station). Docents leading the 60 \u2013 90 minute tour will help attendees explore Prairie style homes, which came to the area about 100 years ago. The tour will detail the early occupants and history as well as the architects and builders of the homes built mostly from 1910 \u2013 1920. Tickets are $10 for members of Mission Hills Heritage and $15 for non-members. Tickets include beverages and cookies following the tour. Alex Montoya, manager of Latino affairs for the San Diego Padres, and Felena Hanson, founder of a woman-oriented shared workspace provider, are among the local speakers who will make presentations at the conference, which will be held at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional speakers include Ron Poindexter of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and David Spinelli, a corporate IT leader at Microsoft. This year\u2019s theme is \u201cFrom Auschwitz to Activism \u2014 70 Years on From the Holocaust.\u201d All are welcome at this event to remember Holocaust victims, honor survivors and teach children about anti-Semitism and learning from the past. The event will include a military color guard, musical presentation and candle lighting, with candles lit by survivors and their descendants in memory of those who died. The commemoration will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Garfield Theater at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center (4126 Executive Drive, La Jolla). The event is free. This year\u2019s theme is \u201cCelebrating and Honoring our United States Armed Forces.\u201d The parade will be held from 11 a.m. to noon followed by an opening ceremony with San Diego elected officials and VIPs. The fair will be open from 10 a.m. \u2013 5 p.m. with entertainment, kids\u2019 zone, carnival rides, cultural dances, ethnic food booths and cultural exhibits. This family friendly event is drug-, cigarette- and alcohol-free. The museum is hosting the event for free so participants can learn about human impact on the Earth\u2019s environment. Several other environmentally conscious organizations will be on hand participating in the event and there will be food vendors in front of the museum. According to a press release from the museum, the centerpiece exhibits of the event will be \u201cFragile Waters\u201d and the \u201cWyland Clean Water Mobile Learning Experience.\u201d Guests can also enter the museum for free during the event and cruises\/sailing adventures with naturalists will be available for a fee. There will be three stages with live music, a \u201ccantina garden,\u201d a low-rider car show, historical demonstrations and more. Over 10 area restaurants and bars will be participating by offering food and drink specials. Various vendors will be on hand with wares from leather pieces to jewelry. A kids\u2019 area and stage will invite young visitors to participate in interactive activities. For the adult attendees there will be a high-end tequila sampling area in addition to the beer garden. The festival starts at 11 a.m. both days, ending at 10 p.m. on Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday.
