Books and buildings: <\/strong>Lakeside recently took a huge step towards its dream of a bigger, better library.<\/p>\n The Board of Supervisors approved a design-build process for the 17,000-square-foot facility planned for Woodside Avenue, in the heart of town. Groundbreaking could be as soon as March.<\/p>\n The project comes as the county continues to pursue improvements at other branches and plans for the construction of a new library in Casa de Oro.<\/p>\n Protecting taxpayers: <\/strong>My colleagues on the Board of Supervisors recently endorsed my proposal for a November ballot measure related to county finances.<\/p>\n If the measure is cleared for the ballot, voters will be asked to amend the county charter to help keep pension funds stabilized and limit the use of long-term debt proceeds.<\/p>\n We have managed over the years to improve public services while also working hard to safeguard taxpayer dollars \u2014 a feat that has gained us national recognition and triple AAA credit ratings.<\/p>\n Prudent fiscal practices are part of the county’s DNA \u2014 and we want to keep it that way!<\/p>\n \u2014Dianne Jacob is San Diego County Supervisor for District 2.
