{"id":230479,"date":"2018-08-10T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-08-10T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/inaturalist-observation-of-the-month-blue-grosbeak\/"},"modified":"2018-08-10T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-08-10T07:00:00","slug":"inaturalist-observation-of-the-month-blue-grosbeak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/inaturalist-observation-of-the-month-blue-grosbeak\/","title":{"rendered":"Observaci\u00f3n iNaturalista del mes: Picogrueso azul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Patricia Simpson | Mission Trails Regional Park<\/p>\n<p>There are a few species of birds at Mission Trails Regional Park (MTRP) that sport a bright blue coat with orange accents: The common and year-round resident western bluebird (<em>Sialia mexicana<\/em>), the summer breeding lazuli bunting (<em>Passerina amoena<\/em>) and its cousin, the blue grosbeak (<em>Passerina caerulea<\/em>). These three were among the 82 species of birds spotted in the park this April and recorded on <a href=\"http:\/\/iNaturalist.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iNaturalist.org<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The magnificent blue grosbeak, recorded by Roger Uzun at <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2LGPdM0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bit.ly\/2LGPdM0<\/a>, is found in San Diego County from mid-April to mid-August. It relies on native habitat such as riparian areas or grasslands and nests in low to medium growing shrubs.
