Toy drives, food drives and special events give myriad opportunities for San Diegans to contribute to those in need. We\u2019ve assembled a list of these charitable events and ongoing drives in and around the <em>Mission Times\u2019<\/em> coverage areas. Help make everyone\u2019s holidays happy with our gift-giving guide below!\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>GIFT AND TOY DRIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cGiving Tree\u201d at The Headquarters:\u00a0<\/strong>For the second year, the USO San Diego is joining with The Headquarters at Seaport District for a drive through <strong>Dec. 24<\/strong>. The effort launched\u00a0in November<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>with a lighting of the 25-foot \u201cGiving Tree\u201d in the retail center\u2019s courtyard (789 W. Harbor Drive, Marina District).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Donate:\u00a0<\/strong>The USO is looking for gifts, toys for all ages, gift cards and monetary donations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefitting:\u00a0<\/strong>Military families<\/p>\n<p><strong>Visitar:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/theheadquarters.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">theheadquarters.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Toys for Tots Program:\u00a0<\/strong>The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve annual program collects toys and distributes them as Christmas Gifts. Drop-off locations are all over San Diego including their headquarters at the Marine Corps Reserve Center (9955 Pomerado Road, Miramar).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Donate:\u00a0<\/strong>New, unwrapped toys or make a monetary donation online<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefitting:\u00a0<\/strong>children of low-income families in San Diego<\/p>\n<p><strong>Visitar:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/san-diego-ca.toysfortots.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">san-diego-ca.toysfortots.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>COLECTA DE ALIMENTOS\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Food For Live Grooves: <\/strong>On <strong>Dec. 19, 20 and 21 <\/strong>from 5 \u2013 9 p.m. each night The Hideout (3519 El Cajon Blvd., Normal Heights) will collect nonperishable food items. In exchange for donations, attendees will receive $1 off drinks. Their lot is on Zion Avenue next to the Benjamin Branch Library (5188 Zion Ave., Allied Gardens). It is open every day of the week, from 1 \u2013 8 p.m. Monday \u2013 Friday and from 9 a.m. \u2013 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Donate: <\/strong>Purchase a tree! They will also be collecting unwrapped toys and gift cards <strong>through Dec. 21.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefitting: <\/strong>Proceeds from tree sales will help the GAG Kiwanis\u2019 community and youth service projects.
