{"id":225514,"date":"2018-10-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-10-26T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/news-and-notes-from-your-county-supervisor-oct-26-2018\/"},"modified":"2018-10-26T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-10-26T07:00:00","slug":"news-and-notes-from-your-county-supervisor-oct-26-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/news-and-notes-from-your-county-supervisor-oct-26-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"News and notes from your County Supervisor\u2014Oct. 26, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By\u00a0Dianne\u00a0Jacob | Dianne&#8217;s Corner<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our awesome outdoors: <\/strong>Construction recently started on the Santa Ysabel Nature Center, the first attraction of its type in San Diego County to showcase the region\u2019s beautiful backcountry.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Due to open next fall, the 6,000-square-foot, county-funded project is rising on the rolling hills of Santa Ysabel Preserve, near the intersection of state Routes 78 and 79 and northwest of Julian.<\/p>\n<p>Our backcountry is a real treasure, on par with San Diego\u2019s beaches and bays, and this new center will serve as a starting point to educate locals, visitors, school groups and others about all our rural area has to offer. It will include exhibits, an amphitheater and a staging area for hikers.<\/p>\n<p>A big thank you to all those in the community who worked with me and county parks staff to make this project happen!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other improvements brewing: <\/strong>I continue to work closely with District 2 residents on a wide range of projects that will make East County an even better place.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the county expects to break ground next year on separate projects in Lakeside \u2014 a new library and an equestrian center. And I\u2019m working with community leaders in Casa de Oro to nail down a location for a new library.<\/p>\n<p>Stay tuned.
