Joel Anderson awarded La Mesa Chamber of Commerce with certificates of recognition at this year\u2019s Spring Fling. <em>(Foto por Sandra Small)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Some businesses donated their goods and services as prizes for giveaways along with a 50-50 drawing by the chamber while local restaurants complemented the event with burger sliders, tacos, and desserts.<\/p>\n<p>The Spring Fling has made great progress in the three years since its inception, according to La Mesa Chamber Board of Directors member Brian Sack. Sharing a bit of history, he said the Spring Fling was designed to fill the void between the businesses and local community by encouraging them to interact in one place.<\/p>\n<p>Sack also acknowledged the continued participation of Sen. Joel Anderson, who has taken part in past events. Having Anderson participate \u201chelps both ways,\u201d he said. \u201cOur organization becomes part of Senator Anderson and Senator Anderson becomes part of the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anderson awarded new La Mesa Chamber members with certificates of recognition for their dedication to improving the community and contributing to the local economy.<\/p>\n<p>Anderson is a strong advocate for small business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis Spring Fling event has become one of the best opportunities for businesses and community members to connect in La Mesa,\u201d he said. \u201cIt has been my privilege to be part of this opportunity since its inception, and I am thankful that [LMCC president] Mary England and her team at the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce has made each year better than the one before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>David Zietlow, a La Mesan looking to open his own business shared how valuable the Spring Fling is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis would be a good event to come around, get some feedback [and] do some networking,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The La Mesa Chamber of Commerce took this event as an opportunity to welcome new members.
