Chop the main asparagus as fine as you can.<\/li>\n<li>In a large soup pot, melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Saut\u00e9 the onion, garlic and\u00a0chopped asparagus until tender. Add the stock and season to taste.<\/li>\n<li>You can add a splash of sherry for flavor, if desired.<\/li>\n<li>Puree the soup with an immersion blender or in small batches in a blender until smooth. Stir in the cream and taste for seasoning.<\/li>\n<li>Return to soup pot to warm.<\/li>\n<li>In a small pan, melt remaining butter and cook the asparagus tips until tender.
