Homecoming has been a tradition at Grossmont High School since 1921, when it was called Alumni Day, the year after the graduation of its first class. Over the past 95 years, homecoming has changed. In the 1920s, the type of the school celebrations varied, but often included an alumni play, a basketball game, a dance, and alumni attending classes of their favorite teachers. In 1930, the yearbook states, at \u201cits annual \u2018visiting day\u2019 at Grossmont \u2026. as many \u2018old grads\u2019 as can possibly do so return to the familiar haunts and halls of their alma mater to live again, for a while, in memories of the time when they, too, were students here.\u201d<\/p>\n

GHS alumni, retired staff, and community members are invited to join us at homecoming, our 96th Anniversary celebration on Friday, Nov. 4.<\/p>\n

3\u20134 p.m.: Visit the 1922 Original School; tours led by superintendent Dr. Tim Glover at 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

4:30 p.m.: JV Football vs. West Hills in Jack Mashin Stadium.<\/p>\n

5\u20136 p.m.: 2016 GHS Office open.<\/p>\n
