PACIFIC BEACH — Volunteers worked Sunday morning, July 18, to help clean up the area around Sail Bay in the aftermath of the previous day’s floating party known as Floatopia. A large amount of trash, including cans and bottles, was left on the sand as well as in the bay. Among those helping to clean the area were board members of the Pacific Beach Town Council as well as Trevor Wessman-Lavelle from Ocean Minded (oceanminded.com), a sustainable beach apparel company. Besides the debris on the sand, there was a near-equal number of cans, bottles, cups and articles of clothing that were submerged just a few feet into the water, Wessman-Lavelle reported. “Four of us waded in up to chest deep to get what we could, but certainly couldn’t get all of it,” he stated.
