San Diego will be featured in the upcoming season of The Travel Channel’s “Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations, as a production crew is schedule to visit the city in March. Apparently, the locale is a surprise. This show highlights the “not-to-be-missed, legendary foods that define a location.” Each episode features one locale and at least four or five iconic foods. It explores how the foods are made and takes viewers inside the kitchens, factories and farms wherein these foods are created. It looks at the origin of these foods and how they’ve evolved over time.
The show’s venues have included Paris, Lima, Manila and New Orleans. “The San Diego Tourism Authority,” public relations director Candice Eley said in a published report, “is incredibly excited to see a growing interest in national food programs wanting to spotlight our city and our restaurants. Shows like this offer a chance for national audiences to discover a different side of San Diego. Millions of viewers will get to see that there is more to San Diego than just a beautiful beach — there is a strong food culture here, and it’s unlike what you’d find any other U.S. destinations, even other U.S. border cities.”
The show is seen Sundays through Wednesdays on The Travel Channel. Past episodes can be seen at travelchannel.com.
