Local track members place at state meet
La Jolla High’s Dana Hoolko placed ninth in the girls pole vault at the State Track and Field Championships held June 3-4 at Cerritos College in Norwalk.
To break a tie in order to go into the finals, Hoolko had to clear 10’9″ three times in the process of the tie-breaking rule. That 10’9″ equaled her previous record.
Bishop’s School junior Aubrey Doede, a junior and captain of the track and field team, finished 10th at state in the high jump.
She was the repeat Coastal Conference champion this year and took first place at CIF Prelims, jumping 5’4″. Doede placed third at CIF Finals, qualifying her for the state championship meet.
