DOWNTOWN — Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC), working on behalf of the San Diego Redevelopment Agency, reopened the 150-space surface parking lot on Seventh Avenue and Market Street after completing six months of environmental remediation work. The Redevelopment Agency-owned site will be managed by Sunset Parking with daily rates ranging from $5 to $17 (special event rate). Monthly permits are also available. A $1.5 million grant from the Orphan Site Cleanup Account Program (OSCA) was used to fund a majority of the remediation work. The OSCA program, established in January 2005 by the State of California Water Resources Control Board, provides grants for cleaning “brownfield” sites contaminated by petroleum underground storage tanks when responsible parties cannot be identified.
