Sunset View Elementary School will host its 49th annual Halloween Carnival in conjunction with the Ramona chapter of Soroptimist International to raise funds for fire victims in Ramona.
The event will be held at the school, 4365 Hill St., from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3 and will feature a costume contest, a haunted house and a slime booth along with other activities.
The carnival was postponed from Oct. 27 out of respect for fire victims, according to organizers.
“We know so many families that have been affected,” said publicity co-chair Leasa Fisher. The delay allowed the PTA to gather its thoughts and formulate a way to help fire victims, said Fisher.
Donations will benefit families in Ramona, especially the In His Steps Ministry, a women’s recovery home. The women’s shelter housed 27 people before burning in last week’s wildfires. The Ramona chapter of Soroptimist International, an organization that aims to help women, will be taking donations at the carnival ticket booth. Their goal is to find a home to rent for the women of In His Steps and provide for other Ramona families in need.
