Danny Morales has once again proven that the easiest job in the world is that of a critic. As usual, regarding any effort to deal with the crime-addled {addicts} on the wall by Newport Avenue, he poses only opposition at every turn.
He’s always there to let us know what won’t work, yet never posits a solution.
We’re pretty clear on what he is against, yet quite clueless as to what he is for. He appears to be “for” the lawless {addicts}, and clearly against “greedy merchants” and the safety of the community.
I am one of those greedy merchants, and I take issue with those who have no concept of how much effort goes into trying to clean up this crisis. I’m not talking about the truly needy homeless, I’m talking about the young, able-bodied and quite numerous and violent ones.
It is clearly getting worse, not better. I have yet to see Danny Morales at the endless meetings between the city, police, lifeguards, outreach programs, merchants and various concerned citizens who regularly attend in an attempt to solve this issue.
I am guilty of throwing up my arms in defeat at times, but it is an attitude like his that gets me back into the fight. Make no mistake, it is a fight.
To attack those (Julie and Craig Klein) whose efforts have been unwavering for so many years is unacceptable. Of course mistakes are made, but the effort and intent is always there. Where’s yours? We can’t possibly know what works until we try. The alcohol-free zone between the pier and main tower is one of the more sensible ones we’ve seen in a while.
I see it as a safely issue analogous to the swimming/surfing zones. Everyone still gets to participate. There was great opposition to that at the time as well, but it works.
If a trial period is so offensive to you, then here’s a solution that might please you “” host them all at your house. Until you participate in a real solution, you are the problem.
