With their win on Friday night, the playoff-bound San Diego Seals, an expansion team in the National Lacrosse League, announced that they will host the Western Division semifinal at Pechanga Arena on Monday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m.
“Qualifying for the playoffs as an expansion team is no small feat, and having the opportunity to potentially host one or more games for the amazing fans here in San Diego is special,” said Seals president Steve Govett.
The Seals were the first team in the West Division to secure a postseason berth, and are still in contention for the division title. A Monday night game would be a first for the Seals as all others have been on Fridays and Saturdays.
“Unfortunately, a weekend date wasn’t available for this round due to a scheduling conflict,” continued Govett. “Rather than sacrifice playing our first-ever playoff game on the road, we elected to take the available Monday night slot in order to deliver an exciting playoff atmosphere to San Diego. Mondays have proven to be spotlight nights for teams in other sports, and we expect it to be the same as we look to bring playoff action, intensity and excitement to America’s Finest City.”
The Seals host the Buffalo Bandits in the regular-season finale on Saturday, April 27 at 7 p.m. Fans can now reserve their seats to the West Division semifinal immediately following the game by visiting SealsLax.com.
