The San Diego Police Department Sex Crimes Unit has arrested a San Diego High School teacher for having a sexual relationship with a teenage student. Detectives began the investigation on May 1 when the victim’s mother contacted the department after she found inappropriate text messages on her daughter’s phone from the teacher. Sex Crimes Detectives determined there was a sexual relationship between the teacher and the student that began when the student was 15 years old. On May 5, Sex Crimes Detectives arrested Juan Carlos Herrera, 48, on numerous charges, including unlawful sex with a minor and child luring.
