San Diego Glass and Paint, a landmark chain founded in 1928, announced the closure of its 18 outlets a month before I took this photo on Feb. 7, 1987. Look familiar? Bicycle Discovery occupies the location at the northwest corner of Felspar Street and Mission Boulevard today. The May historical newsletter lists the folks who lived in Pacific Beach in 1911. The June newsletter shows photos of some of their homes today. Folks who join the Pacific Beach Historical Society in June will get 13 newsletters for the price of 12.
