Police arrested a woman for felony driving under the influence and felony hit and run after the she allegedly struck a parked car near 700 Ventura Place before driving out onto the sand and hitting a pedestrian walking along the beach.
According to San Diego Police Sgt. Jeff Fellows, the motorist was driving without her headlights on and the victim couldn’t see her coming from behind.
“She drove over the sidewalk between two concrete posts and started driving south on the sand and hit the pedestrian,” he said. “She drove all the way to the south parking lot before citizens detained her.”
The pedestrian suffered a fractured pelvis and dislocated hip.
Fellows said the citizens called the police and directed officers to the driver.
Police arrested Heather Lamb, 24, a resident of San Diego. Fellows said she will also be charged with misdemeanor hit and run and reckless driving for hitting a parked car and trash can near Mission Boulevard and Ventura Place.
