The 38th annual Police and Emergency Services Appreciation Night (PAESAN), a community picnic celebrating first responders sponsored by Pacific Beach Town Council, was held Sept. 26 at North Crown Point Shores Rotary Club Pavilion. PAESAN was started by two women, Annie McDaniel and Mary Wilding, both PBTC members. Every fall, residents get together at Crown Point for hot dogs, hamburgers, and some fresh grilled fish with all the fixings. It’s no ordinary cookout, but rather a fundraiser attended by representatives from the San Diego Police Department, San Diego Fire-Rescue, and the City’s Park and Rec Department, who are all honored for their service.
