
Several PLHS sports teams are having seasons that should lead to playoff success. Boys soccer The Pointers stand at 9-6-3 overall and 2-2-3, good for third place in the Western League. However, in the CIF’s top Open Division, where the defending CIF Div. II champion Pointers find themselves this season, they rank No. 13 of 20 teams. The top eight become the Open Division playoff teams, leaving the Pointers as the No. 5 seed of the remaining Division I teams. The Pointers are 8-4-3 overall (3-1-2 in Western League) under first-year head coach Jose Garcia Jr. This puts them in second place behind undefeated Cathedral Catholic in league and ninth among CIF Div. I teams. This could leave them as the No. 1 seed in Div. I if current numbers remain unchanged. Boys basketball
First-year head coach Josh Aros has guided his team to a 15-7 overall record (6-3, fourth place in Central League). The Pointers are currently the No. 4 seed in CIF Div. III rankings.
Freshman Yassine Gharram (16.2), senior D. Johnson (12.5) and junior K Johnson (10.9) lead the team in per-game scoring.
