MIDWAY DISTRICT — A woman walking on the 3200 block of Kemper Street in the Midway District was the victim of a sexual assault on Nov. 27 at about 3 p.m., said San Diego police Lt. Rudy Tai. The woman was returning home with one bag of groceries from Vons grocery store, located at 3645 Midway Drive, when her attacker jumped out at her from dense shrubbery lining the sidewalk. He forced her down into the brush, where a quick and violent fight ensued before the assailant fled the scene, Tai said. The attacker was described only as a black male. The San Diego Police Department’s Sex Crimes Division is investigating the crime and urges anyone with information to call (619) 531-2000. — Debbie Hatch
