PACIFIC BEACH — Parents of students at Pacific Beach Middle School welcomed home their children Sept. 24 from sixth-grade camp. The campers had been gone since Tuesday, Sept. 21. The Off-Campus Integrated Learning Experiences (OCILE) camp took place at Camp Palomar. OCILE places students into unique environments, where they have the opportunity to learn examples of diversity in the world around them. This program takes students approximately 70 miles from the school to Palomar Mountain, according the San Diego Unified School District’s Web site. At the campsite are cabins, craft and nature rooms and a building for conservation tools, and a maintenance workshop. School teachers who attend the camp also help instruct the campers.
