Caltrans will close northbound Interstate 805 from La Jolla Village Drive/Miramar Road to Interstate 5 Sunday through Thursday nights from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. The closures are needed for striping and barrier work to prepare for the opening of the new carpool lanes and a direct access ramp.
Northbound motorists will be detoured to westbound State Route 52 to northbound I-5. Local traffic will be permitted to exit at I-805 at Governor Drive and Nobel Drive.
Stage 1 of the I-805 North Express Lanes Project is constructing one carpool lane in each direction in the median of I-805 from just north of SR-52 to just north of Mira Mesa Boulevard and a south-facing Direct Access Ramp at Carroll Canyon Road.
The construction cost for Stage 1 is about $86 million and is funded with state, federal and local sources, including the Proposition 1B State – Local Partnership Program and TransNet Extension funds.
