San Diego County’s largest haunted experience, The Scream Zone, opens Friday, Sept. 25 at the Del Mar “Scaregrounds.” This year, The Scream Zone has been distorted and “metamorpho-cide into murderous homicide” with new attractions. Opening night half off the Triple Haunt. The night of Sept. 25 only guests may experience The House of Horror, Karnevil and The Haunted Hayride for half the price. For more information and for ticket pricing go to www.thescreamzone.com .
New this year: The House of Horror: Get ready for the scare of your life. The house has been recast, reconfigured, re-formed, embellished and embalmed. Haunting and chilling your inner core, this malicious mausoleum lodges beasts and brutes and freaks and fiends, “conjuring” the stuff of your worst nightmares. Dolls at play will taunt you to stay and play and stay and stay! Intrigued? Come for a visit. It’s particularly peculiar. The House lives… for its next “visitor.”
Karnevil: A fatal freak show starring Dr. Marvel S. Mayhem and his travelling troupe of bloodthirsty curiosities. Headlining these vexing oddities are the disconcerting, unsettling devious deviations and mutant aberrations. This tormented troupe has a talent for thrilling and killing. The sadistic stars will amaze the masses by diverting and distracting as they “execute” their talents with exterminating determination.
The Haunted Hayride: Load up the truck and climb aboard the wagon of no return. “Kill Billies” are an itchin’ and a twitchin’ at the Trailer Park of Terror. Kick your shoes off and come sit a spell.
Riding through the gateway to hellacious hallucinations, Zombies await to delight and decay. The Walking Dead will meander, wander and saunter beside the craft as you move down the cold, dark, dreaded path of the deceased and departed. Who do that Voodoo that you do? Don’t ask, don’t tell. You will be carried away. “Freaks and Geeks” make bones rattle. A Heart Tells Tales and Spirits Tattle! Paintball Apocalypse: A Nightmare on Clown Street:
Hold on to your heart, it may just stop, cold. A sudden state of horrifying hysteria will grip you as clowns appear out of nowhere and are everywhere! Come Twisty, come Killjoy, come Pennywise and Pogo. These Killer Clowns render a Carnival of Souls – coulrophobia – Bozo- no show! In other words kids, this ain’t no Pagliacci! Paintball Apocalypse gives you a chance to obliterate the not so hilarious-hallucinations of your night-time terrors!
Attention parents: You are welcome to enter The Scream Zone compound to wait for children. The parent lounge is free and there are lots of things for you to do and see, including great food vendors and adult beverages. So come on down and enjoy The Scream Zone alone, or as a family. (Not recommended for children under 10 years old.)
