LA JOLLA — A memorial service has been set for Nov. 13 for a women who is believed to be 38-year old Lorena Gonzalez. The medical examiner’s office is still awaiting DNA confirmation on the body that was found in a burning car at UCSD on Oct. 29. The memorial service will be held at Templo Cristiano Alpha y Omega Church in Rancho Santa Fe at 5 p.m. Saturday. Medical examiner officials ruled the death a homicide last week. UCSD police responded to a vehicle fire at 9:20 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, in a parking lot in the 3600 block of Voigt Drive. Firefighters discovered the body of a female inside the car after putting out the fire, according to police. The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Nov. 6 that Julio Garcia-Puente, Gonzalez’s estranged husband, was arrested in Tijuana Nov. 5 in connection with the murder.
