
The baton of leadership at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR) San Diego in Point Loma has been passed.
Capt. Mark T. Kohlheim relieved Capt. Frank D. Unetic as commanding officer of SPAWAR’s SSC San Diego on Nov. 8, during a formal change of command ceremony.
Kohlheim reported from his previous assignment as executive assistant at the SPAWAR SSC San Diego site on Pacific Highway. Previous assignments have included service as the executive officer at SSC San Diego; assistant chief of staff for the commander of communications and information warfare for Cruiser Destroyer Group One/Strike Group 15 for the USS Ronald Reagan Strike Group; and commander of the U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, Puerto Rico.
Unetic has been SSC San Diego’s commanding officer since August 2005. Previous assignments have included service as program manager for submarine communications at SPAWAR; commanding officer, USS Pogy; deputy commander for Submarine Squadron Eleven; requirement officer of acoustics with the Chief of Naval Operations staff; and executive officer aboard USS Bremerton.
SSC San Diego has been providing state-of-the-art command and control, communications and surveillance technology to the nation’s military from its Point Loma location since 1940.
