With regular-season play nearing its finish, several local scholastic girls softball teams have been hitting the diamonds lately.
La Jolla Country Day (LJCD) School saw action in a pair of games last week.
The Lady Torreys opened the week with a 10-0 win over Tri-City Christian. Kacie Tsuida, Ariel Abbott, Sammy Berenter and Alex Weiss were stellar on defense and kept Tri-City off the base paths. The battery of Alexandra Berenter and Ashley Pollack teamed on the shutout.
Two days later, LJCD and The Bishop’s School battled (see more below) in a pitcher’s duel, with the Lady Knights scoring a 1-0 win in eight innings.
At The Bishop’s School, the Lady Knights opened the week with a 5-3 loss to San Dieguito Academy. Michelle Brunker went 3-for-3 at the plate and smacked a pair of homers.
In scoring the win over LJCD, Bishop’s Natalie Camarda pitched a complete game shutout and had 10 strikeouts. Sarah Parma scored the winning run.
Elsewhere, La Jolla High (8-11) snapped a seven-game losing streak last week with a 20-5 victory over Coronado.
