LA JOLLA — Legends Gallery, located at 1205 Prospect St., Suite B, just got in a new artist — Joelle Blouin of Quebec, Canada — and the gallery sure is happy to show off her work. “The photos just don’t do her work and details justice,” said Julia Drew-Renfro, a fine art consultant at the gallery. “The more you look, the more you see, and the further you move back and take a broader perspective, the clearer it becomes.” Blouin paints cityscapes with oil, using post-modern impressionism and cubism — all with a palette knife. Blouin is self-taught and being represented by several other galleries across the United States. She’s receiving the respect of a fine, seasoned artist remarkably soon in her career, said Drew-Renfro, adding the painter is only 25. “Her paintings almost look like sculptures,” Drew-Renfro said. “You can almost hear her paintings. Very moving.”
