Thanks to the generous contributions of neighbors and businesses in the Navajo community, the Lake Murray Music Fest and Fireworks show was held on Fourth of July at Lake Murray Community Park.
A sizable crowd attended the Independence Day event, with music, games, food vendors, and picnics culminating in a dazzling fireworks display over Lake Murray viewable throughout the Navajo community.
This year’s music headliner was Pop Vinyl, an energetic band performing dance classics from Motown to the latest hits. Special guests included San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria and District 7 Council member Raul Campillo.
The family-friendly event’s $90,000 fundraising goal was met through restaurant nights, private donations, and business sponsorships, including title sponsor Stormberg Orthodontics of La Mesa. It’s Stormberg’s fourth year as the top event sponsor.
As is tradition, neighborhood volunteers gathered at the park on the morning of July 5 to clean up any remnants of the previous day’s festivities.
