The Lady Pointer soccer team has accomplished its first goal by winning its City League championship with an undefeated 6-0 record.
Overall, the team has turned in a remarkable 16-2-3 record (including a 10-0-1 record on their home pitch), scoring 60 goals and allowing only 14.
The Pointer girls also find themselves atop the section-wide Div. II standings with four more wins than any of the other 16 teams.
The league title was clinched last week with a 4-1 victory over second place San Diego High. Goals went to a member of each class as freshman striker Iyana Zimmerman, sophomore striker Riley O’Toole, junior striker Jaquelyn Neves, and senior midfielder Taylor Hopkins all scored.
The Lady Pointers finished their league schedule last week against Morse and Clairemont, each the winner of only one league match.
Head coach John Murphy and assistant Alex Van Heuven coach the team. CIF playoff action for the ladies begins later this month.
