Sixteen top-ranked girls varsity basketball teams from around the nation are set to compete this week in the seventh annual Sweet Sixteen Invitational at La Jolla Country Day School from Wednesday to Saturday, Dec. 2 to 5. This year, the tournament will include several of the top teams in the nation, many of which will be vying for the number one ranking in their division and state. Teams from Arizona, Colorado and Nevada will meet California teams from Los Angeles, Northern California and San Diego to display their talents at this four-day event. Over the past six years, many of the participants have signed and are playing at the nation’s premiere colleges and universities, including University of Connecticut, Seton Hall, Stanford University, San Diego State University, USC, University of Colorado, University of San Francisco, UCLA, Montana State University, University of Florida, Cal State Northridge, Oregon State University, University of Miami, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of San Diego, Cal Poly San Louis Obispo.
