The City of La Mesa recently highlighted Homes with MY Realty as it became the first La Mesa business to receive the green business certification.
The La Mesa-based business led by Myeshia Abdul-Hakeem and her team works with buyers and sellers in need of real estate services. Abdul-Hakeem has been a Realtor for 28 years, winning the Broker of the Year Award from the San Diego Association of Realtors in 2021 and 2022.
Asked why the company was interested in the certification, Abdul-Hakeem noted, “It’s naturally what we do. We wholeheartedly believe in living with the lowest carbon footprint possible and the biggest smile possible.”
The company had green practices in mind as their new office space was being designed.
All office furniture is repurposed or reused from other companies. The business also installed low flow sinks and fixtures and water their outdoor landscape using recycled water. Last, the company uses printer ink tanks as opposed to cartridges, certified green cleaning products, and paper products offering high recycled content.
The City of La Mesa prioritizes programming in support of the Climate Action Plan, including things such as the green business certification program.
