On Saturday, May 13, the Kiwanis Club of La Jolla will present the 15th annual Junior Olympics at La Jolla High School. Registration forms have been presented to Gillespie, Bird Rock, La Jolla and Torrey Pines elementary schools. The event is open to students between the ages of 5 and 12 who attend these schools.More than 500 students participated in last year’s event. Ribbons are awarded to each student in an event they enter; the top three finishers in each event will receive medals. Trophies will be awarded to the “fastest girl” and “fastest boy” in La Jolla, as well as in team relay events. The SPIRIT Award trophy will be presented to the school with the most participants.La Jolla High’s Edwards Stadium is located at 750 Nautilus St. Spectators are encouraged to cheer on the youngsters. The first event begins at 8:30 a.m. Athletes heck-in starts at 7:15 a.m.The event is supported by the La Jolla YMCA, coaches and principals at each school and Kiwanis Club members.
