Longtime Ocean Beach resident John Brown died peacefully at home on Feb. 1, 2008.
Born Jan. 25, 1927, John passed away at the age of 71.
Many OB and Point Loma residents will remember John from his nearly 20 years at San Diego Glass & Paint on Newport Avenue.
John was an active member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA) for over 50 years.
John and his wife, Melba, traveled the country and abroad to attend annual SPEBSQSA conventions. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Melba; daughter, Judy Albrecht of Ocean Beach; sons, Tom Brown of Point Loma and John Brown of Boise, Idaho; and four grandchildren.
