There have been several Olympic champions among the San Diego Yacht Club (SDYC) membership:
“¢ Lowell North and crew Charlie Rogers won a bronze medal in Dragons in 1964 (Japan) and Lowell won again ” a gold medal in the Stars class in 1968 (Mexico City).
“¢ Dennis Conner won a bronze medal in the Tempest class boats in 1976 (Montreal).
“¢ In 1984, member Robbie Haines, with crew Eddie Trevelyn and Rod Davis, won a gold medal in the Solings class
(Los Angeles).
“¢ In 1988, Mark Reynolds took silver in the Stars class (Seoul), followed by a gold in 1992 (Barcelona), as a participant in 1996 (Savannah), and gold in 2000 (Sydney).
“¢ In 1992, Brian Ledbetter claimed silver in the Finns class (Barcelona).
“¢ JJ Isler won two Olympic medals in the women’s 470 class ” a bronze medal in 1992 (Barcelona) and a silver medal in the 2000 Sydney Games.
